Outreach events of MindSpark to be held from Oct 15 to 23 - Times of India

PUNE: The outreach programme of the MindSpark Technical Festival organised by the College of Engineering Pune will be held in October. This year, MindSpark will be hosted in December on the theme 'Empowering India'. "Over the last few years, MindSpark has grown and is now host to a wide variety of events, competitions and also workshops. But MindSpark is more than just a festival. Our attempt has always been to create awareness on social and technical issues," coordinator of the programme Anjikya Admuthe said.

Another coordinator, Gaurav Rai, said it was with the desire to make the festival a bigger event and reach as many youths as possible that the outreach programme came into being. The outreach team organises workshops and seminars across Maharashtra relating to various technical matters. Workshops on robotics, ethical hacking and entrepreneurship development have been conducted all over the state. This year, the festival is scheduled on December 27, 28 and 29. The online registration for the event has already started.

Priyanka Gaikwad, a media team member, said the participants will be given an introduction to embedded systems, Arduino programming, working with digital and analogue sensors and PWM. Hazare's arrest provokes countrywide protests - Daily Pioneer

Mumbai: Over 3,000 people have been picked on the charges of unlawful assembly from across the city today after they held demonstrations protesting against the police action against activist Anna Hazare, hours before he was to launch his fast against corruption, police said. "Approximately, 3,000-4,000 people have been detained and released across Mumbai," City Commissioner of Police Arup Patnaik told reporters here. People in large numbers held protest at Azad Maidan without requisite permission in support of Anna Hazare and were picked up for unlawful assembly, a police officer said.

The protesters raised slogans such as 'Vande Mataram', 'Anna Hazare hum tumhare saath hain' (Anna we are with you), 'corruption hatao' (eliminate corruption) when the police started lodging them in vans.

Meanwhile, Home Minister R R Patil took stock of the situation in the state in the wake of the pro-Hazare protest with senior Home Ministry and police officials.The situation, however, is peaceful, Patil said adding no untoward incident has been reported anywhere in the state.
